
Deadpool’s director revealed his surprisingly small fee for the movie

The director of the first Deadpool, Tim Miller, has revealed his surprisingly small fee for the movie. Miller’s agent even told him that he would have gotten more for working on one episode of The Walking Dead (2010-2022).
Deadpool (2016) became a real hit. It earned $782 million at the global box office with a budget of $58 million. Against the backdrop of such success, a trilogy was launched. The final third installment Deadpool and Wolverine (2024) by Shawn Levy brought Marvel Studios 1.33 billion with a budget of 200 million and became the highest-grossing R-rated film (in Russia, the analog of 18+ ).
Tim Miller only directed the first Deadpool . However, he is the reason why such a popular movie franchise came to be. Ryan Reynolds made his debut as Wade Wilson back in X-Men: Inception. Wolverine in 2009’s Wolverine. Miller, however, helped him develop the story of the popular character from Marvel Comics. In an interview with Collider, Miller revealed that he was only paid $225,000 for such a huge hit. This is largely due to the fact that this was his first major directorial project:
I’ll tell you, it’s not really lucrative to be a first-time director in Hollywood. I got $225,000 for Deadpool. I know it’s a lot of money, but for two years of work, it’s not that much. Of course I’m grateful as hell, I was just starting out as a director at the time. But my agent said, \
Miller admitted that he is very proud of Deadpool . He enjoys seeing Deadpool figures at shows and realizing that without him, there might not have been a trilogy. At the same time, Miller realizes that he could have been paid more handsomely if, for example, the merchandising profits had been part of his deal with 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios):
