The events of the series unfolds in a small town Severoneftyansk. Former criminal investigation operative Victor Pugachev four years ago left the service and became fond of racing.

In 1998, a passenger airplane took off from Barnaul airport and headed for Moscow. After 20 minutes it disappeared from radar and all communication was cut off. No signs of the crash were found and its fate is still unknown.

Twenty-four years later, one of the passengers calls his old apartment to inform his wife of a successful landing, but the phone is picked up by his grown daughter, who immediately recognizes the voice of her missing father.

This incident attracted the attention of Vladimir Shaposhnikov, a former special services officer with great connections. He turned for help to the scandalous journalist Anna, who always digs for the truth.

This case is indirectly connected with her mother, who is treated in a psychiatric clinic, so the heroine agrees to lead the investigation. Soon a missing airplane in perfect condition is found in Altai.

All things are in their places, and there is no trace of the passengers. Anya invites programmer Nikita and physicist Vadim to the team. They begin to gather information and try to solve the most complicated mystery.

Captain Zakhar Myatov of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department was unjustly convicted in 1940. He spent ten months in prison and was ready to sign everything he was told, just to save his beloved Nadya.
